Hey everyone,

We’ve been busy and have some exciting updates to share with you. Here’s what we’ve been up to lately!

Open House in Oshawa

We had an open house for our new coach house in Oshawa, the first of its kind in the area. This was to show what’s possible with these lots, thanks to new zoning changes. Our realtor, Anita Bongers, explained how to find properties like these, and Matthew Pickering discussed financing options. We had over 50 people RSVP’d for this event and many came out and joined us it was good to see so much interest.

Our Coach House open house was a huge success this past month with many people coming out to see the new opportunity of what can be done to increase density in our neighborhoods.

New Projects and Personal News

In june we are beginning a multi phase project on Duke st. We are converting a single family home into a duplex, building a coach house severing off a new lot and building a triplex on the new lot. We’re excited to get going. We’ll share updates and pictures as we make progress.
We are also hopeful to begin construction on our Center st project

On a personal note, my wife’s sister is getting married in early June, and we’re looking forward to celebrating with family. It’s going to be a great event, and we’re all excited about it.

These are photos of our recently completed coach house. Start to finish this build took just over 10 weeks. We are very happy with how it turned out. We really like the feel the large tiles give to this bathroom, it definitely makes it pop!

Clearing the Lot in Bowmanville

We’ve been clearing a lot in Bowmanville where we plan to build triplexes. We bought this lot with a joint venture partner. The previous owner left a lot of debris because they tore down the house without a permit. We spent a weekend cleaning it up to show our neighbors we care about the property. We’re almost done and should finish soon. We aim to start construction early next year and have the triplexes ready for rent by next summer.

Spring is a great time to get outside and enjoy mother nature. Daniel and his wife Precious have been out several times looking for edible wild mushrooms. On one excursion they found a huge cluster of chicken of the woods mushrooms and took some home to eat. They had to get fairly creative however to get it out of the tree!

Bill and Corrie took James to the petting zoo for the first time this past month. James must take after his grandfather pointing out all of the birds he could find!

Stay in Touch

Thanks for following our journey. We appreciate your support and interest in our projects. If you have any questions or want to know more, please reach out. We’ve included some photos from our recent activities to give you a better idea of what we’ve been working on.

**Honoring Dads Worldwide: A Guide to Father’s Day Celebrations**

Father’s Day is a special time to celebrate and honor fathers and father figures for their love and hard work. It started in the United States, proposed by Sonora Smart Dodd in 1909, and was officially recognized in 1972. Different countries have their own ways of celebrating: in the U.S. , Canada and the UK, it’s on the third Sunday in June with gifts and family gatherings; in Germany, it’s called Vatertag and celebrated with hiking and beer; in Thailand, it’s on December 5, the late king’s birthday; and in Brazil, it’s on the second Sunday of August with big feasts and church services.

Modern celebrations often include giving tech gadgets, tools, personalized items, or spending quality time together. But Father’s Day is more than just gifts. It’s about recognizing the importance of fatherhood, encouraging dads to think about their roles, and for children to show their appreciation. It also highlights the rights and well-being of fathers, and the many forms and challenges of being a dad today.

Unique Father’s Day Traditions Around the World

In Mexico, Father’s Day, or “Día del Padre,” is celebrated with family races called “Carrera del Día del Padre,” where families run together. In Nepal, “Gokarna Aunsi” or “Father’s Day” involves a special trip to Gokarna to honor deceased fathers. These different traditions show how important fathers are everywhere, each in a unique way.

The Role of Fatherhood Today

Fatherhood today means doing many things. Dads are more involved in taking care of children and helping around the house. Society is starting to recognize this and support dads with things like paternity leave and better work-life balance. This helps create healthier families.

Interesting Facts About June

June is not just for Father’s Day. It’s also a month full of interesting things.

  • Summer Solstice: June has the longest day of the year, called the Summer Solstice, around June 20-21. It’s a time of joy and celebration as we welcome summer.
  • National Fresh Fruit and Vegetables Month: June is a great time to enjoy fresh fruits and vegetables. It’s the perfect month to start eating healthier with all the fresh produce available.
  • Great Outdoors Month: June is also a time to enjoy the outdoors. It’s the best month to go camping, hiking, or just spend time in nature with family and friends.

Celebrating Father’s Day with a Twist

Make Father’s Day extra special with activities beyond the usual gifts:

  • Adventure Activities: Plan a day of hiking, fishing, or a road trip to a new place.
  • Cultural Experiences: Visit a museum, go to a concert, or try a new type of food together.
  • DIY Projects: Spend the day building something together, like a birdhouse or a garden.
  • Virtual Celebrations: If you can’t be together, have a virtual gathering with online games or a shared movie night.

The Importance of Fathers

Father’s Day reminds us to cherish the bonds we have with our dads and father figures. It’s a day to recognize their hard work and the important role they play in our lives. Whether through heartfelt talks, thoughtful gestures, or spending quality time together, showing gratitude can make these relationships stronger.

So, as we step into June, let’s embrace the season and honor the fathers who have shaped our lives.
